A Sweary Whatsapp Conversation Has Sparked A Huge Scandal In Brazilian Stock Cars
We imagine it’s pretty rare for series commissioners of motorsport championships to have a Whatsapp conversation, let alone one containing controversial details that are later released by the press.
This is exactly what’s happened in the Brazilian V8 Stock Car series, and it has kicked off a huge scandal prior to the first round of the 2016 season, after a newspaper released a chat between two commissioners that had a rather surprising topic.
On Monday the Folha de S. Paulo paper revealed a discussion between two commissioners of the CBA (Brazilian Confederation of Motorsport) joking about giving out penalties to drivers in the championship last year.
Caca Bueno is the focus of the conversation. The five-time series champion labelled the CBA a “bunch of imbeciles” over team radio after taking a victory in Ribeirao Preto during the 2015 season and was later punished. He had to do another lap during the race after the chequered flag was not shown for him and as the lead two drivers circulated, track vehicles entered the track, sparking the radio message. He was suspended for two races.
Here’s how some of the conversation played out, according to Motorsport.com. Assistant commissioner Paulo Ygor Dias wrote on Whatsapp:
“Let’s disqualify him (Bueno) for something in the next race (after Ribeirao Preto). I wanna see him p****d off… (laughs). This sucker was talking s**t for a long time. We have to f**k him and Thiago Camilo (another driver). They are the most boring guys.”
Another commissioner, Clovis Matsumoto, replied:
“Well, on my time Caca was three times runner-up because I was not in the mood of letting him be the champion! (laughs).”
Ygor then added:
“I remember the time of Matsu, and also it’s not too long that he wasn’t the champion after some points that we took from him…”
The CBA has suspended the two commissioners and is investigating. Bueno, the subject of the conversation, was furious and said he was not surprised, but “felt robbed”.
The commissioners defended themselves by saying it was only a joke and regulations prevent them from “inventing punishments”. The scandal has completely overshadowed preparations for this weekend’s season opener at the Autódromo Internacional de Curitiba.
Comments
This is disgusting.
Welcome to the world of being over payed and in power.
And that’s called “racing”. These commissioners are so unfair, can’t believe it
Disgracegful, but I wouldnt be surprised if this was happening in other motorsports too…
It does.
Senna / Prost / Japan / 1989.
Porsche / Group 5 FIA regulations / 1978 post pre-season testing changes.
Welcome to Brasil, where responsibility is invented and power is all a position gives you.
Let’s sign a petition to see Bernie’s texts xD
Now i know why racing is expensive sports.
So this is basicly privacy violation ?
That’s a stupid way to make a scandal.
You’re saying that because you’re not the one who was “robbed”.
If this is your true opinion, just keep it for yourself. We don’t need more corruption, neither in Brazil nor people’s idiot minds…
Well, it’s Brazil so…there’s always one fcker using the brazilian ways to solve things to F someone over. Screw Brazil.
Exactly.
so true
2013 f1 conversation might have been like this
