Sunday eBay Wouldya: Jaguar XKR
Last week in Sunday eBay Wouldya we tempted you with some lightweight hot hatchery in the form of a £5k smart forfour BRABUS. This week however, we’ve upped the budget and decided to go for something a bit more sophisticated... try Jaguar’s gorgeous XKR.
Last week in Sunday eBay Wouldya we tempted you with some lightweight hot hatchery in the form of a £5k smart forfour BRABUS. This week however, we’ve upped the budget and decided to go for something a bit more sophisticated... try Jaguar’s gorgeous XKR.
If you grew up in the nineties and early noughties as we did, you no doubt drooled over the XKR’s voluptuous curves in between after-school football sessions and physics homework. A lime-green XKR convertible even made an appearance in Bond film Die Another Day and I for one wanted one so badly that I considered part exchanging my parents to get one.
Make no mistake, the XKR is a real looker and with enormous 20 inch alloys and gleaming black paint our £7,700 eBay find is unadulterated automotive porn. Importantly though, it has the muscle to match the looks thanks to a 4.0-litre supercharged V8 engine which kicks out 370 of the finest British horsepower and fires the XKR to 60mph in just 5.2 seconds.
Our Jag is packed with tonnes of kit including electric charcoal leather seats, a decent sound system, automatic xenon headlights, climate control and a slick auto gearbox. It also has just 64,000 miles on the clock plus a full Jaguar service history and it wears a decent set of tyres – handy with 370bhp on tap!
What’s even more promising is that the advert does not look like it’s been written by a four year old like most classified ads do, as Ollie mused last week. Our only slight concern is that the seller uses the eBay name “realboner”. I mean seriously, does this guy sell industrial quantities of Viagra or is he just comically insecure?! Anyway, regardless of whether the seller’s equipment works properly or not, it looks like this Jag should perform just fine – which is pretty sweet when you consider that it’s cheaper than a base spec Toyota Aygo.
UPDATE: Sadly it looks like "realboner" has just sold this Jag as we go to press. However, the generous chaps that we are, we've found another XKR for you. Weighing in at a mere £5,995, this sleek silver facelift model has covered 93,000 miles and has a full service history. It might not have the bling 20 inch alloys of our original car, but we think it still looks pretty damn fine.
