Snap Up John Mayer's Ford GT Heritage On eBay
4038 Ford GTs exist in the wild, but only 343 are anything like John Mayer's.
4038 Ford GTs exist in the wild, but only 343 are anything like John Mayer's. That's because it's the Heritage edition and as Mayer is probably facing bankruptcy with the GT's astronomical running costs, you now have a chance to grab it on eBay.
Nothing has changed underneath the skin with this special edition car. It still has a 5.4-litre V8 capable of pumping out 550hp and 500lb-ft of torque giving it a 0-60mph time of around three and a half seconds and taking the GT up to a top speed of 212mph.
The only difference between the standard GT and this 2006 example is the exterior. The paint job is a salute to the Gulf GT-40 racer that wiped the smile off Ferrari's face in 1968 and 1969 at Le Mans, making it the first car to win more than once with the same chassis.
The celebrity endorsement and the limited availability mean the car is currently just out of our price bracket, with a price of $265,000 (£170,000). Those with a good memory will remember a Mr. J Clarkson complaining many-a-time that the Ford GT is the most unreliable car he's ever purchased. Doesn't stop us from being tempted though mate.
If you are foaming at the mouth and have the cash rattling in your pocket, you've got until August 14th to get your bids in. Don't worry about John Mayer not being able to get around after the sale, he'll stay content with his Land Rover Defender.
