Remember Volvo's 650hp V8 Engine? Here's The Car It's Going In
After months of teasing, Volvo Polestar Racing has finally revealed the S60 that will race in the V8 Supercars Championship in Australia.
Volvo has been working with Polestar in motorsport since 1996, competing together in touring car championships around the world. This S60 has been built using that expertise, to the V8 Supercars' 'Car of the Future' regulations. That means it gets 18-inch wheels, a transaxle gearbox and independent rear suspension.
The exciting bit, though, is that V8. This S60 gets a modified version of the Yamaha-derived B8444S engine that's found in the Noble M600. It has been bored out from 4.4- to 5.0-litres, creating an estimated 650bhp. This catapults it from 0-62mph in 3.2sec. Oh, and it sounds as mega as it looks.
Your first chance to see this thing in action is February 15th at the V8 Supercars Championship test day in Sydney.
