When Land Rover rolled out a drop-top concept version of the Range Rover Evoque (above) a couple of years ago, we didn’t exactly find ourselves clamouring for a production version. After all, it did look like the sort of drop oddity Newport Convertible Engineering might come up with. However, it seems a de-roofed Evoque is indeed on its way to showrooms, as evidenced by the camouflaged soft-top test car spotted in the wild by Autocar.

Convertible SUVs aren’t exactly the coolest of cars (just look at the outrageously embarrassing Suzuki X-90 with its removable roof), so this incoming new arrival in the Evoque range doesn’t exactly fill us with joy. Regardless of what we think of it, however, Land Rover will no doubt shift shedloads of the things.
