The cabriolet itself hasn't been officially confirmed, but there has been many comments about new models from executives. A recent one was by Porsche development chief Wolfgang Duerheimer speaking with Automobilwoche "We have a broad range of 14 derivatives of the 911 that are very successful, so it stands to reason we should diversify the lineup for the Panamera as well."
Reports are saying the car would be a two-door, not a convertible version of the four-door sedan that many would like. The car would be priced much higher, possibly around $16,000 more, which would ensure a hefty profit margin for Porsche on the vehicle.
With VW taking ownership, there is even talk about the Panamera platform spawning variants for other brands in the VW umbrella. The further dilution of Porsche's exclusivity has already started! What I would like to see more than a cabriolet though is a modern-day 928 GT. It would have to be styled like the renderings we saw a while back. I think that would have a lot of potential for Porsche.
