Cadillac worked long and hard on the CTS-V to achieve that goal and it's amazing that they got to it. But now it looks as if Porsche may have beaten that record, if a report from Germany's Sport Auto is to be believed.
Three seconds. That's the how much faster the Panamera Turbo is around the track, according to Auto Sport. Now Porsche hasn't confirmed this - if it's true you better believe they will. It'll be a number they'll want to trumpet.
There's a few things that seem funny about this though. First of all, 3 seconds is a small number that could be attributed to various factors. But if they can consistently hit that, a win is a win. Second, the Panamera is a dedicated sports sedan from a renowned sports car manufacturer. It should beat the CTS-V around the track.
Also, a $132,600 sports sedan at that (versus $59,875 for the CTS-V). Thirdly, does it really matter in the real world anyway? Not really. For performance and value, the CTS-V would take the title for me. That said, I'm really looking forward to seeing the Panamera in person. Some have said the difference is like night and day. We'll see!
