This Is Our First Decent Look At The VW Golf 8
On 24 October, we’ll be in for one of the most important car reveals of 2019. The eight-generation VW Golf will say its big hello to the world, but if you just can’t want until then, here’s a cheeky preview.
VW has revealed a set of design sketches depicting what’ll no doubt end up being - just like the outgoing car - the C-segment hatchback to beat.
Tone down the usual outlandish design sketch details, and you’re left with something that won’t be much of a departure from the MkVII. Is that an issue? Not necessarily - the Golf 7 is an attractive looking car, and the new fully-electric ID 3 ticks the more outlandish stylish box.
Although it won’t look much different from the outside, it will be packing a lot more tech on the inside. We’re expecting much more sophisticated driving aids, and as seen in an interior sketch sent out a few months ago, much more screen real estate in the cabin.
The Golf 8 will also feature mild-hybrid powertrains, and it was previously thought the GTI would be one of the electrified version. However, VW has since reportedly ditched its hybridised Golf plans, giving the GTI one last ‘pure’ ICE hurrah.
What do you think of the Golf 8 from what you’ve seen so far?

Getting some 306 rallye vibes from the front
Okay, it’s gonna look boring as ever.
We’ve already seen pictures of pre-production models with basically no camo on.
Very nice
Still would rather have a G21
Why does it look so… LONG
Wait - is that a two-door?
I can already see the Rotiform LSRs and Airride on this lol
That all gens drawing has screensaver potential!
