Now, the special edition model has gotten an official release - but without the Nurburgring name. Instead, it is just called Lexus LFA Special Edition.
The LFA gets some small (and we mean small) tweaks - like a reworking of the transmission that changes shift speed time from 0.2 seconds in the standard car to rack day 0.15 seconds in the Special Edition. Whohoo!
Basically everything we heard earlier was correct - the LFA Special Edition gets small canards (dive planes) on the front bumper and rear wing in carbon fiber reinforced polymer to help with aerodynamics. Same pictures too, just this time in high-resolution.
Lexus says the suspension is in "high-power-only" (huh?) and power has gotten a boost of 10 from from 560 to 570 horsepower. Racing rubber from a Japanese tire maker with a crazy name - Haiguripputaiya - is fitted, along with the "special wheels" that are more lightweight.
Oh and that unknown fourth color in addition to Black, Matte Black, or Orange is now officially referred to as "Whitest White." OK, that'll be $50K grand - extra.
