Now's Your Chance To Buy This Ford Mondeo Touring Car Icon
If you're a fan of the Super Touring golden era of the British Touring Car Championship - and if you're fairly well off - we have some good news for you. Ford's legendary Prodrive-prepared 2000 Mondeo BTCC challenger is going under the hammer on February 22-23 at Silverstone Auctions.
The humble Mondeo has never looked as good as it did with that yellow and blue Rapid Fit livery. It wasn't just a looker, either. In the 2000 BTCC championship it cleaned up, with drivers Alain Menu, Anthony Reid and Rickard Rydell picking up 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the drivers' championship.
What's great about this example is that it's not a museum piece; it's ready to race. This BTCC Mondeo has seen action in numerous historic races over the last few years, something the new owner will hopefully continue to do.
Of the four original cars, one was written off during the racing season, one is in Prodrive's museum, and another is owned by a Ford collector, leaving just this one. With that in mind, this opportunity to own a slice of BTCC history is a very rare one. The auction house is giving an estimate of £100,000-£120,000.
