The New Nissan 370Z 40th Anniversary Edition
Nissan has decided to make a version of its much loved Z car celebrating the sportster's fortieth anniversary. That all makes sense, car companies do this sort of thing, whether the ride deserves it or not.
Nissan has decided to make a version of its much loved Z car celebrating the sportster's fortieth anniversary. That all makes sense, car companies do this sort of thing, whether the ride deserves it or not. But given the impact the Nissan (originally Datsun) Z car had, it's well worth celebrating.
When Nissan rolled out the progenitor of the car you see pictured here, it was a real hit. No one expected the Japanese to be able to build a performance car, but they sure did, and they sure have been, ever since. Sure, you can't discount the Datsun 1600 and 2000 Roadsters, but the Z Car really put Japan on the sportscar map.
The 370Z 40th Anniversary Edition is only being offered in the States as a coupe and production will be limited to 1,000 units. In other words, get in line now, because the 370Z 40th Anniversary Edition will go on sale towards the end of the month with pricing set at $38,860 not including destination fees.
What do you get for your $38,860? The special edition is based on the 370Z Touring model and is equipped with the Sport Package and 6-speed manual transmission. Nissan also adds several exclusive features such as a "40th Graphite" exterior finish and a special red leather-appointed interior.
Other features are exclusive for the 40th Anniversary Edition. These include a high-luster smoke wheel finish, the ubiquitous red brake calipers (that seemingly every cool car on the planet has) and of course 40th Anniversary badges located on the rear hatch and front shock tower brace.
In addition to the fancy red leather seats, on the inside you will find are red door panel inserts, 40th Anniversary debossed seatback and floormat embroidery, red stitching on the shift boot and kneepads, center stack and steering wheel plus an interior 40th commemorative plaque of authenticity.
And the cherry on top: Every 40th Anniversary Edition Z will come with a commemorative satin car cover.
Performance goodies? None. It's just an appearance package.
