The New Honda Civic Type R Will Set You Back $34,775

The new Type R's US pricing has been revealed via a sneaky window sticker photo

We already know that the Honda Civic Si will set you back $23,900 (MSRP), but what about the hot Type R? We at last have our answer: exactly $10,000 more.

A CivicX forum member snapped a Type R window sticker at a port somewhere in the USA, which revealed the MSRP to be $33,900. It also has the price after destination and handling fees listed, which is $34,775.

Assuming the CivicX image is legitimate, this makes the Type R a smidge cheaper than the Ford Focus RS, which is $36,120 MSRP, and $36,995 with destination/handling charges. It’s significantly cheaper than the Golf R with its $39,375 recommended retail, although the target market for VW’s four-wheel drive hot hatch are arguably a little different.

In the UK meanwhile, where car prices are generally higher, we have to stump up £30,995 ($39,955) for the new Type R, as confirmed by Honda last month.

Given the choice, which would you have: the Focus RS, or the Civic Type R?

I’ll rather have this than a new GTi. And it’s only 5 grand more expensive

A GTI starts $10,000 less. The Golf R is closer in price at just around $35,500.

FORD: Sorry, Americans. We’re going to stop production of the Focus RS.
HONDA: Americans, you want the Civic Type-R? Here is it!

35 grand for a FWD “performance” car?

BTw, everyone trying to make FWD out as fun have 100% totally forgotten the main reason FWD even exists.

35 is not a lot. If you live in a run by id1ots that think the environment is more important than fun. Aka the netherlands…
