The New BMW M5's M Performance Exhaust Sounds Mean As Hell

This particular example of BMW's newest super saloon has had much of the M Performance parts catalogue chucked at it, and that includes the fitting of a new exhaust...

While no M5 will sound anything like as good as the V10-powered E60 version, I don’t think we’ll need to worry about the noise that exits the tailpipes of the latest hot 5er. Especially if the one you’re listening to - like this example here - has the M Performance exhaust fitted.

It gives the 592bhp, 553lb ft 4.4-litre V8 a deep, muscular sound that’ll make you forget all about the fact it’s packing a pair of turbochargers.

If the driver of the M5 you spot is in a hurry though, you won’t hear the car for long. Helped by all-wheel drive traction off the line (yep, the rear-wheel drive M5 is dead, I’m afraid), BMW’s new super saloon sorts the 0-62mph sprint in just 3.4 seconds, and perhaps more impressively, goes from 0-124mph in 11.1 seconds. Sufficient.

What do you think of the sound this thing makes?
