A Mother Has Released Harrowing Footage Of Her Son's Fatal Motorbike Crash To Raise Road Safety Awareness
Warning: while the video does not contain graphic content, some of you may find this footage distressing.
In the hope that something positive could come out of their son’s tragic death, Brenda and Ken Holmes took the difficult decision to release this shocking footage. Recorded on a helmet camera, it shows the moment a car pulled in front of 38-year-old David Holmes’ path, leaving him almost no time to react. In the video, Brenda talks about her son and this horrible accident - which occurred in Norfolk - to prompt both drivers and riders to think about road safety.
Although David was travelling at 97mph at the time - well above the speed limit - the driver admitted he simply hadn’t seen the rider. The driver received a 12 month community sentence and an 18 month driving ban after admitting death by careless driving.
The head of Norfolk and Suffolk Roads Policing Unit, Chief Inspector Chris Spinks, said “I understand releasing such footage will divide opinion; David’s family are in full support of the material being released and we’ve worked closely with his mother Brenda to ensure this is achieved in an effective and sensitive way.”
