Lamborghini Shows Us Its Urus
The car I originally thought would never come to life has just been born. It's Lamborghini's new soft-roader which will be making its debut in the metal at the Beijing Automotive Exhibition early next week.

What will it be called, I hear you cry? The Italian firm hasn't resurrected the 'LM002' name and even though 'Deimos' was trademarked by the Italian nutters, it's not in the pipeline to be used for this Lambo SUV. Maybe they're keeping it for the Gallardo replacement.
It's called the Urus. Not Uranus, not uterus, 'Urus' which is apparently pronounced 'au-roosh'. It's a Spanish word that means 'big scary bull that can go over rough terrain'. Actually, that's a lie. Urus is another word for 'aurochs' which is an extinct wild ox believed to be the ancestor of domestic cattle.
Enough about the name. What about the car? The leaked official images show something much more promising than the drawings previously seen in an Italian magazine earlier this year. It looks like a cross between the Estoque saloon concept and a Gallardo on stilts. Not as dramatic and mad as the Aventador but a smart looking SUV indeed.
What is Aventador-esque however is apparent inside the cabin. A centre console that slopes from the centre armrest to the top of the dashboard that makes you feel cocooned and the genius starter button under a fighter jet-like switch. This image does show a new bespoke touch-screen interface instead of an Audi-like media centre, similar to the one you would find in the McLaren MP4-12C.
What will be heaving it is still not entirely certain. Some say it's going to be Lambo's 5.2 V10 and others say it will have either Audi's 4.0 twin-turbo V8 or Bentley's W12. It won't surprise us if power is around the 600bhp mark and a brisk 0-60mph is hit in just under 4 seconds.
Prices for the Uterus, I mean 'Urus', are actually predicted to be Gallardo or high-spec Porsche Cayenne Turbo money. Out of all the VAG luxury SUVs we have seen, I think this is the one to go for. It's predicted to be on sale by 2015 if production goes ahead, which I now think will happen.
Footballers wives, start preparing the pitch.
