3 Quick Tips For Keeping Your Car Moving In May
With exams coming up and the end of education for many Uni' goers, going for a casual spin in your favourite droptop in the sunny weather would be the ideal way to cap off the academic year. But not this May you can't!
With exams coming up and the end of education for many Uni' goers, going for a casual spin in your favourite droptop in the sunny weather would be the ideal way to cap off the academic year. But not this May you can't! What is predicted to be the coldest May in 100 years with hail storms, freezing cold wind and even snow falling in places around the UK is on its way. Brilliant!
As we love our fans, we want to make sure you stay safe this May whilst this rubbish weather takes its toll. Here's a few things you can do to keep your car in shape.
All Weather Tyres
If you can afford it, get yourself a set of winter or all weather tyres. As we discovered last winter, they help the car stop quicker in an emergency and have much better traction on snow and on soaking wet roads than standard tyres. You can save more pennies by fitting them yourself instead of getting the local garage to do it but if you aren't the strongest person in the world you can try Harbor Freight power tools and see if they help.
Car Covers
Scraping windows is an absolute pain and if your car is getting on a bit (age-wise) then you can't rely on the demisters to do all the work for you. Tarps at Harborfreight.com again could do the trick; not only keeping the windscreen clear but also protecting the paintwork in harsh conditions. A good investment for anyone that owns a classic or doesn't have an indoor garage.
Essentials
Don't be a badass and go out there unprepared. Even Mr. T wouldn't be impressed if you did that. Make sure the boot has got essentials such as a blanket, a flask, in-car phone chargers, shovels and some snacks. Being stuck on a motorway in deep snow is no fun and can be down right dangerous without this kit. The snow might not be as bad as two winters ago but you never know.
May won't be nice but experts predict the arrival of some warm fronts here in the UK shortly after. In other words, June and July should be hot, sunny and awesome. Organise the road-trips to theme parks then, but in the meantime, take heed!
