If You Live Life A Quarter Mile At A Time, The Dodge Challenger Drag Pak Is All You Need
If the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat isn’t quite focussed enough for you, let me introduce you to the Challenger ‘Drag Pak.’ It’s the factory-made drag racer that’ll be eligible for National Hot Rod Association Sportsman races.
Chrysler’s Mopar parts division unveiled its test car at Indianapolis, showcasing its 7.0-litre HEMI V8. It’s mated to an automatic transmission with a racing shifter and line-lock to make burnouts easy. Further modifications include an aluminium driveshaft and reworked suspension.
Aesthetically it’s essentially an SRT Hellcat with a massive bonnet scoop and Hoosier drag radials that are 30 inches in diameter, and nine inches wide. The interior, again, comes from the Hellcat, now with added gauges, lightweight racing seats and a full roll cage.
The Challenger ‘Drag Pak’ has not yet been certified by the NHRA, but since this is currently only a test car it could undergo changes based on feedback from racers.
