Idiot Tries To Overtake One Car Too Many And Causes A Four-Car Smash

A reckless driver in North Carolina continued an overtaking manoeuvre into oncoming traffic, causing a four-car pile-up before simply driving away as if nothing happened

When you’re overtaking, it’s best to leave a sizeable margin for error. That’s exactly what this lunatic in North Carolina didn’t do when overtaking multiple cars in one go.

As the road bends to the left ahead of him he carries on the manoeuvre regardless instead of pulling into the safe gap available. There’s oncoming traffic and the first car has to slam its brakes on.

Idiot Tries To Overtake One Car Too Many And Causes A Four-Car Smash

The car behind that appears not to see what’s going on, slams into the back of the first car and then ploughs forwards, spinning the first car around and carrying on through, as if the driver is either unconscious or has forgotten what the brake pedal does. Two other cars are involved, too, as the driver who caused it simply carries on his way.

We’ve no doubt that when the police find the culprit they won’t be gentle.

If you have a habit of driving a millimeter from the car in front… theres your reason not to

This is a classic video where someone’s reckless driving shows how bad generally people are at driving…That’s not how you overtake of course, but still, why slam on the brakes? Situations like this are fairly common where I live (unfortunately), and people in both lanes normally just move to the left and right respectively, making enough room for the third car to pass between them and nobody gets hurt…there seems to be plenty of space for three cars on that road.
I have driven quite a few people from States around Europe (most of them from NC actually) and my observation is that people from there see our roads very narrow, they were often screaming(!) in my car in a common situation when there was a car in opposite direction on a village road. Maybe that’s the case with people from the video? Maybe they didn’t think there was enough room for them to move and make a little more space? Or maybe they were just not very attentive and did not see it soon enough…
Also, what’s up with that tailgating?

Anybody who thought there isn’t actually enough space to pass is an idiot. People need to learn that first, the one thing you can’t do when you see a car coming is panic and that a road can fit 3 cars no problems, so instead of slamming your breaks, just go a little to the right even if it costs you some offroad dirt being picked up. However, this guy wasn’t even close to collision, no need for slammed brakes.

I get why the first car panicked but I wonder if they had the time to accelerate again after the maniac passed them to avoid others from hitting their back.. I wonder what a Tesla on autopilot would have done in that case. Personally if I brake hard I check my mirror as soon as possible and try to release the brakes.
