The First Fourth-Gen Mazda MX-5s Are Rolling Off The Production Line, And You Can Order One In The UK Now
If you watched Richard Hammond’s film about the new MX-5 on last night’s Top Gear, you might have become excited at the prospect of owning one for yourself. Well the good news is that production of the latest MX-5 has begun at Mazda’s Ujina plant in Hiroshima.
The first cars off the production line will be sold in Japan, where the car goes on sale in June, however UK pre-orders opened yesterday ahead of a late summer delivery date. Prices and specifications for UK cars will be revealed later in the year, though we know there will be a choice of two engines, making 129bhp and 158bhp.
The fourth-generation MX-5 is the lightest model since the first generation hit the road in 1989. The new car uses Mazda’s modern Skyactiv Technology and a frankly anal attention to weight-saving detail. We can’t wait to get behind the wheel once the car hits British shores.
