Ferrari Hybrid Coming To L.A Auto Show?
Oh dear, it looks like not even Ferrari is immune from the "green revolution". The company wisely didn't do anything to compromise it's heritage like build an SUV. I applaud them for that.
Oh dear, it looks like not even Ferrari is immune from the "green revolution". The company wisely didn't do anything to compromise it's heritage like build an SUV. I applaud them for that. Recent patents and public pronouncements from Ferrari have indicated the company is looking to make less of an environmental footprint.
While it does seem anti-Ferrari (Just a tad....) that isn't neccessarily a bad thing. How they get there though definitely could be. I could see maybe greener plant that is more efficient or employing solar panels for instance. Or even in vehicles, things like lowering weight in the vehicles and attempting to make engines more efficient while not compromising power. But a hybrid?
Regardless, Ferrari is forging ahead with one. Luca Cordero di Montezemolo confirmed at the Geneva Auto Show that they were working on such a powertrain, and filings with the patent office have shown what they are planning. The system would be all-wheel drive, with the electric propulsion system powering the front wheels.
To that end, Ferrari's CEO Amedeo Felisa has revealed a new hybrid concept car is coming; and soon. Not at Frankfurt in September, but “shortly thereafter, probably at an American show.”. Given that Ferrari is not attending NAIAS in January, what does that leave? The Los Angeles Auto Show.
Seems fitting, given the proximity to Hollywood (celebrities) where such a vehicle would be popular, as well as California, most likely the car's largest market. They're probably trying to gauge reaction with a concept. Far as I'm concerned though, it's a pretty dumb move.
