Epic Civic Estate Race Car Brings Volvo Cool Back To BTCC
Honda Yuasa Racing has confirmed that it will be competing in the 2014 British Touring Car Championship with a new car: the Honda Civic Tourer.
Yes, you heard correctly. The Japanese manufacturer will provide Matt Neal and 2012 champion Gordan Shedden with a racing version of its new estate car. It will be the only estate on the grid and the first to compete in the series since the Volvo 850 in 1994.
Team manager Peter Crolla believes there will be "no compromise" between the estate and the hatchback versions of the Civic. Both drivers are looking forward to the exciting new challenge and believe they can win straight out of the box.
Testing of the new model will start in January ahead of the first round of the 2014 BTCC at Brands Hatch towards the end of March. It will be powered by the new NGTC engine: a 2.0-litre, 300bhp petrol engine.
