This Dragster Goes Airborne With Catastrophic Consequences
It has been a crazy week for high-speed barrel rolls. First we saw Brian Gillespie survive this ridiculous accident approaching 200mph, and now Graham Ellis managed to live through this terrifying accident at Santa Pod.
The accident happened in September when Pro Mod racer Ellis was competing in qualifying for the National Finals. His Plymouth Superbird got away brilliantly, but then everything went wrong. The car veered right and smashed over the retaining barrier, hitting the grass and catapulting into a sickening series of rolls.
As emergency services raced to the scene, the crowd were left in shock. Despite the severity of the accident, Ellis was conscious as paramedics treated him. After being airlifted to hospital, it was discovered he had suffered fractures to the face, neck and back, however he is expected to make a full recovery.
Yet again we're in awe of modern motorsport safety equipment.
