Cops Are Investigating TT Biker Guy Martin's 180mph Aston Martin Boast
Guy Martin might be used to riding at bonkers speeds on the Isle of Man during the TT race, but the rest of the year travelling at such speeds can land you in a spot of bother.
After reviewing the Aston Martin Vanquish for the Sunday Times’ driving magazine, Martin claimed to have hit 180mph on the Sulby Straight, a section of the Isle of Man TT road course that has a 40mph limit when not in competition use. He also claimed to have taken a corner called Ballacrye with the “accelerator flat to the floor.”
I saw 180mph down Sulby Straight, one of the fastest sections of the course, and the car wasn’t even in top gear

The 33-year-old, one of the many people rumoured to be a potential replacement for Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear, said he took the car out at about 6am and completed the 37.7-mile TT course in 22 minutes, about five minutes slower than he’d managed on a bike. Check out the video below to see what kind of insanity is required to manage a lap in that time…
Manx police said they were “making some inquiries.” Martin will no doubt be hoping there isn’t any incriminating CCTV evidence along the way.
