Comcast Workers Park Like Morons In The Snow, Carnage Ensues

After a pair of Comcast workers parked their trucks just over a brow of a hill to repair an exchange box in Indianapolis, multiple crashes occurred

A busy road in Indianapolis turned to chaos on Tuesday, after a Comcast worker parked his truck at the side of the road just over the brow of a hill to work on an exchange box.

Despite multiple accidents happening while cars were trying to slow down - having only seen the truck at the last minute - the guy just didn’t seem to care.

To make matters worse, a second Comcast truck turned up, and he took a similar zero damns given, borderline hostile attitude when his parking was questioned. By the end of the video, a particularly high car casualty count was racked up.

Comcast is said to be investigating the incident.

Here are the OSHA rules and regs for telecommunication workers specifically for this work environment.

1910.268(d)(1)
“Before work is begun in the vicinity of vehicular or pedestrian traffic which may endanger employees, warning signs and/or flags or other traffic control devices shall be placed (“CONSPICUOUSLY”) to alert and channel approaching traffic. Where further protection is needed, barriers shall be utilized. At night, warning lights shall be prominently displayed, and excavated areas shall be enclosed with protective barricades.”

Here is the definition of conspicuously, “Easily seen or noticed; readily visible or observable; attracting special attention, as by outstanding qualities or eccentricities:” The workers are at fault in this case because even though they put out cones, they were not conspicuous enough to give enough warning that telecommunication work was going on. On most trucks there are huge signs that they could put out 500 feet back in both directions to warn people what was going on ahead and they clearly didn’t. Here is the link to the OSHA page that I got this from: https://www.osha.gov/pls/oshaweb/owadisp.show_document

Everyone having problems are driving way too fast for the conditions. The truck that hit that car was FLYING he hit the car slid more and then into 2 different yards. I don’t think the comcast dude was actually wrong, he could’ve put mire cones down, but if it had been a disabled car they would’ve died the way people were driving. I’ve driven in the snow since I could drive, I’m only 22 and I know you shouldn’t be travelling that fast.

I see multiple issues here. None are the truck, cones or the Comcast worker’s fault.
There’s plenty of stopping distance between the top of the hill and the cones. It is fully visible.

The people that had issues stopping or were driving off the road are either
A) Driving too fast.
B) Not using winter tyres (all-season/mud+snow doesn’t count).
C) Doesn’t understand that snow has far less traction than asphalt, thus unable/too ignorant to compensate, primarily through speed.

News flash, if people are crashing, put up more cones. Use common sense dammit! Either that or the worker has a weird car crashing fetish
