BMW Gran Coupe Concept Named 6-Series for Production?

This year's Beijing Auto Show saw a lot of important introductions, particularly in the luxury sedan and coupe category. Mercedes-Benz introduced the CLS Sport Wagon, whose styling is a precursor to the next-generation CLS.

For BMW, it introduced the Gran Coupe Concept - a competitor the CLS, a market that BMW has surprisingly never entered in. It has vehicles in every single segment and even created new ones, but still hasn't fielded a four-door coupe? Interesting. But it looks like they will finally be entering it, with production near-confirmed for the Gran Coupe.

What to name it though? A report by Autocarsays 6-Series, and it would seemingly make a perfect fit. It would make a great companion alongside the 6-Series coupe and coupe/crossover hybrid the X6. It could even replace the 6-Series Coupe.

If not, it is uncertain how it would be named alongside a 6-Series Coupe. We're sure BMW will figure it out though. We just want it to get here, no matter what it is named. Bring on the inevitable BMW Gran Coupe, Mercedes-Benz CLS and Porsche Panamera comparison tests!
