We’re all for used cars with an interesting back story, but we’re struggling to get on board with this particular example. It’s a BMW E38 7-series, and it has the morbid distinction of being the car in which rapper Tupac Shakur was fatally shot in 1996. The price? $1.5 million.

It’s up for sale at Moments In Time, a memorabilia specialist, but despite the massive asking price, no details are given, and only a handful of low resolution pictures are offered.

At the time of the drive-by shooting which ultimately claimed Shakur’s life, the car was owned by his manager, Suge Knight. After that the 750iL was impounded by the Los Angeles Police Department, before being auctioned off. The bullet holes have - presumably - long since been repaired. The identity of the shooter remains a mystery.

We’re not sure why anyone would want such a grim piece of music/automotive history, nor why anyone would pay quite so much. Shouldn’t something like this be in a museum?

Tupac was famous but not a legend. So why is it auctioned for 1.5 mil. There are other famous people who died in a car (either shot or met an accident) like JFK, Diana, Paul etc. First of all why do you auction that ? It is harsh.
