Biker Wiped Out And Left Clinging To Back Of Car In Scary Crash

A biker on a Los Angeles freeway was left riding on the back of a moving car after a driver moved into the high occupancy lane without looking

This scary incident happened on a Los Angeles freeway, when a Toyota Camry driver decided to perform an utterly stupid lane change.

He’s seen illegally crossing a solid yellow line into the high-occupancy vehicle lane - moving over two lanes in the process - right into the path of the biker. There’s no time to stop, so the biker ploughs into the back of the Toyota, at which point he dismounts and ends up clinging to the boot of the car.

Incredibly, the Toyota driver doesn’t pull up immediately: he comes to a halt slowly, and only after the biker hits the rear windscreen several times while shouting for him to stop. Once the biker has a chance to make his feelings known to the driver - who doesn’t seem terribly bothered by the unfortunate proceedings - we see a phone sitting on the man’s lap.

Does that have something to do with his inattentive driving style, perhaps?

I spotted the car moving over, second time watching motor cyclist hadnt even rolled off the throttle he had time to slow down, however in saying that split second decision making isnt everyones strong point so i can cur with the bikers lack of reaction. I was lucky enough to see the old bloke begin changing lanes (also without looking) into me on my bike scond day after getting it. Laid on the horn and didnt stop until he was back over in his lane. Hands free or not phones and cars dont mix, manufacutrers should start incorperating signal blockers into their cars so people physically cant use phones whilst driving. Even then people will find a wsy to distract themselves from paying attention from the driving they should be concentrating on.

Riding a bike is at higher risk whether you like it or not. It both higher likelyhood of accidents as well as impact.

Landing on top of the car like that was probably the best possible outcome for that motorcyclist. Totally crazy situation. Be aware of your surroundings people!

(Motorcyclist was actually very reasonable in his reactions to that as well)
