B18 Powered Civic Review!

Today I present an EG coupe Civic (technically an EJ1) powered by a glorious B18! The B18 is mated to a five speed with a Limited Slip Differential. The car is brought to the ground with a stiff set of coilovers. This car RIPS canyons. The car was dyno tuned and made 211 whp. Not bad eh?

The chassis is light and tossable. The B18 has some low end but cross 5500 RPM and it goes from sedate four cylinder to screaming banshee. Hearing the VTEC crossover echoing through the canyon should be something every petrolhead experiences. The stiff coilovers hold the cars compusure through the twisties and the LSD makes it a lively event when you get on the throttle exiting a corner. Pure bliss.

uhhh why is there a picture of this car in white?

So a little back story to this specific car: the owner, Jesus, originally had the car in white. The car had its rear end smashed during the winter.

Jesus immedietely found a clean chassis to swap all of his parts over to. He found a one owner car that was in great condition, pictured below.

Work began and he transfered over all of the goodies from his old chassis to the new one. Along the way he improved the car whilst doing this.

Luckily with these Honda’s, swapping parts are like clicking Legos in place. In no time the car was up and running.

And thats where the magic of these Hondas really show themselves. All the parts are accesible. Doing swaps are easy. The cost of owning and building these cars are low. This is what is so appealing about these cars. You can build it how ever YOU want and to add to that, it won’t force you live off ramen noodles and work three jobs.

I still think its AMAZING how this car went from sedate grandma driven Civic to a hot front wheel drive rocket ship that internally destroys your organs with centrifugal forces. What makes it better is that this was all done in a garage, with free time and without a lot of money. Accessibility is the theme here, who would frown upon that?

Linked up above is my video review. Please watch it, at least so you can hear the glorious VTEC cross over. Its addicting to rip this car up to redline. Good thing its reliable also. If you liked it, don’t forget to subscribe and also at the end of the video I linked a car review of this same car in BONE STOCK form, so check that out as well. Its an awesome comparison to see the car stock, then see what it can be built into. Thanks guys!

Ayyy I got a EJ2 [no vtec ☹️]
but even the 100hp kick in because of the pretty light chassis
and yes it’s very cheap to do swaps and crazy builds, all by your freetime

nice post❤️

Bring a Caterham To MARS

HOLD UP
Why are boot and bumper in the swapping picture in pristine condition?
Didn’t the car get a ramming solid enough to wreck the chassis?

I think he tried to fix the white one with spare parts before going with another chassis
