This Awesome Honda Supermini Concept Could Be Here By 2019

At the Frankfurt Motor Show Honda has revealed one of the coolest superminis we've ever seen, and we just can't get enough of how amazing this thing looks

If we could ask Honda for anything right now, it would be for them to build this absolutely stunning supermini exactly as it is. What a beauty!

Excitingly, that might actually happen: this is Honda’s Urban EV Concept, and while it’s officially just a design and technology concept, it paves the way for likely styling, drivetrain and infotainment systems of the not-so-distant future. Autocar claims a production version is slated for 2019, and we hope it’s exactly like the concept.

Just look at it! What a glorious little piece of nouveau-retro hatchback penmanship. It has fantastic, and huge, multi-spoke alloy wheels at each corner and sits low to the ground, poised over its tyres like a cat ready to pounce.

The round headlights and brilliant, illuminated ‘H’ badge on the grille are like a modern take on the original Volkswagen Golf GTI; the boxy roof line and thick C-pillars balancing the classic with the current.

It’s just so spot-on in the styling department. The massive, flared wheel arches and simple but elegant black detailing lines are completely fuss-free, but couldn’t work any better if they had all year.

Imagine this with a turbocharged engine good for, say, 140bhp. That would be superb. Come on, Honda: don’t just leave the good stuff on the design concept. Build it, and don’t change a thing.

I don’t like the interior, but that retro inspired exterior design is simply stunning!

I hope it looks like that should it ever make it to production.
We need more retro inspired cars!

Still needs mirrors and door handles and will probably be fully electric…

It does have door handles, I think. It looks like it’s got suicide doors, which is even cooler. You are right about the mirrors, but full electric can’t be that bad of a tradeoff for a car like this. It’ll be just like driving a GTI with a crappy old engine, just with a bit more torque.

Hopefully this doesn’t happen to it…

Please make this happen. With a nice turbo petrol engine. The interior looks pretty bad tbh… Needs a fix.
