To put the bonkers acceleration figure of the new E63 S estate in context, here are some rather more exotic performance cars it can beat in the benchmark 0-62mph sprint
It’s easy to get blasé about acceleration figures these days. So many cars hit 62mph from rest in three-point-something seconds now, that one can forget just how fast that really is.
That’s why from time-to-time, when a car with a particularly impressive figure comes along, we feel the need to put things in context with a a good ol’ list. And the latest car we want to do that with is the Mercedes-AMG E63 S estate.
Yes, it may have 603bhp to play with, but the fact the E63’s all-wheel drive system is able to shoot two tonnes of estate from 0-62mph in just 3.5sec (a tenth slower than the saloon) is nothing short of mind-blowing.
A wagon with up to 1800 litres of bootspace, that’s faster than all these exotics? Sign us up…

I didn’t say it was better. I agree the 911R is a stunning car. But for some people. Let’s say the type who can have one nice fast Daily. That’s spacious and has room for their family The Mercedes is going to better than The 911R. Personally I love the AMG GTS. It’s my favorite Car right now. But If I had a choice for my daily driver between the E63 Or the GTS I’d choose the E63. But that’s just me.

If you’re talking about amg gt-s, its proven by Car and driver it does 0-60 in 3s :)
The lp640 does 0-62 in 3.4 seconds…… Getting your facts right is advisable

I’d take the Merc for two reasons: I love Mercedes, and I find the idea of a 600hp station wagon hilarious.
I respect the new AMG E, but I’d rather have an RS6 because that looks hard as nails

Should have called the list “10 Cars I’d Have over the Mercedes E63 AMG Estate.” You can wave around your acceleration figures all you want, but no way I’d ditch a CLK GTR for example in favor of a jumped up E Class. Then again, the E63 probably won’t suddenly decide it’s time for some backflips at 200mph on the Mulsanne Straight, so take your pick really.
