A 560hp VW Beetle Is Something We've All Got Time For
We're not die-hard fans of the modern, Golf-based Beetle - even if the recent Beetle Dune concept was oddly cool - but we can definitely get behind this 560bhp competition-spec version.
It's powered by a highly modified TSI engine of so far unconfirmed capacity, and will compete in the 2014 Global RallyCross (GRC) series. GRC cars dispatch 0-60mph in under two seconds, and are built strong to withstand being put through jumps as big as 70-foot.
This particular car will be run by Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross with Tanner Foust at the wheel, alongside the team's 7-Up-branded car piloted by former Toro Rosso Formula 1 driver Scott Speed. The team will start this year's GRC with modified VW Polo rally machines, before switching to the Beetles mid-season.
