The 364bhp BMW M2 Will Set You Back $50k In The US
It’s difficult to adequately convey just how much we want a BMW M2 right now. After all, it’s an amped-up version of the M235i - one of our favourite new BMWs - and, well, just look at it. In the UK we’ve known since the car’s reveal in October just how far off being able to afford one we are (it’s £44,070 here, so quite far for most of us…), but we haven’t known the US price until now. With BMW dropping the news in Detroit today, we can now reveal that it’ll be $51,700 plus destination and handling fees when it goes on sale this April.
Meanwhile, it’s been announced that the X4 M40i - which uses a slightly less powerful version of the M2’s N55 turbocharged straight-six - is $57,800, and is available next month. I know which one I’d rather.
As a reminder, the M2’s 3.0-litre engine kicks out 364bhp and 343 lb ft, enough for a 4.5-second 0-62mph sprint, or 4.3sec if you spec the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and switch on the launch control. Top speed is 155mph, or 168mph with the M Driver’s Package option ticked.

“ or 4.3 is you spec the seven-speed “ Think you mean if? That’s quite exciting though, I would happily pay that for so much horsepower.
I think 50k is a lot for a car with so little power. For the same price you can get one of the new v8 mustangs with some pretty nice options. With that being said, a BMW will probably be nicer on the luxury side, but for a 70 horsepower difference I’d take the Mustang any day
Probably nicer on the luxury side. Probably? Are you serious? Also, I’d be willing to bet that even with 70hp less it will still be quicker than a v8 mustang, in a straight not just round the track.
Nevermind the regular Mustang; you can get a GT350 with the performance pack for a couple grand more. And I’ll take a screaming V8 and those looks over what’s surely gonna be another uncharismatic turbo-6 from BMW. And don’t get me started on BMW’s current design language.
The M2 is BMW going back to the roots, and this is going to be the next M Legend
lol, just 50.000 dollars, in germany the M2 costs a little under 62k (dollars) soo f logic right?
Or The Netherlands 87.000 Dollars!!!!!, I wish I lived in the USA because you guys have cheap cars lol
It may cost us less, but we don’t have roads anywhere near as good as Europe’s
Thats right! Iam from CZ and I looked…it starts on 64k dolars in here. That is just weird. M235i starts at 52k dolars…
Still acceptable, in my country i expect m2 cost more than $100000, because m4 comes around $200000. Insane!
M2 is cheaper than the X535I!
50k for an m2 not thanks I’ll just buy an e92 m3 for around 35k
One has a warranty, one doesn’t.
e92 m3 not worth it.
The standard GT350 starts at $55k in America. I will pay that extra $5k
$5k gets you another 150-ish hp. Bargain. Oh wait. A naturally aspirated proper V8 too. Nice.
But its a ford…
i rather just buy a used M3 and save money :D
That’s a lot of money to be an deuchbag
I still want to see the shooting brake version!! That looks even mire badass
