30 Million Americans Could Buy An EV As Their Next Car
As many as 30 million Americans could be about to buy an electric car, according to a AAA survey that definitely has to be taken with a pinch of salt.
The study found that rising driving ranges, lower purchase prices and more infrastructure were reasons why one in every seven of the nation’s inhabitants are warming to the idea to the point of parting with cash.
For Millennials, that figure rises to one in five Americans, suggesting that younger people are far more accepting of new technologies and cleaner cars. Across all ages, though, it’s Tesla leading the charge (fnar) to improve public perceptions of electric cars.
Greg Brannon, AAA’s director of Automotive Engineering said:
“Tesla — a standout in AAA’s evaluations — has helped widen the appeal of electric vehicles by showing they can be stylish, performance-focused and filled with cutting-edge technology.”
This news comes despite US petrol prices being around 40 per cent lower than they were five years ago. Hybrids are also doing well in the public opinion stakes, says the study, with 70 per cent of those questioned rating fuel economy as ‘an important factor’ in choosing their next car, compared to 50 per cent for safety tech, 48 per cent for brand and 34 per cent for technology.
What say you, America? Are you going green?
Comments
Going “green” lol.
Shocking news
Then there is the Demon
And insert any American old-school V8 car here.
I like hearing the engine if an ICE. Dont want anything EV. If I wanted an EV Ill buy a powerwheels.
What if you could get an EV that had really good sound simulation so it sounded like whatever car you wanted?
30 Million Americans? Out of how many? 321 Million
In the birthplace of a mod that could basically be described with “polluting for fun”, that’s not bad at all
The article clearly says “1 in 7”, so out of 210 million.
Not all of them are of driving age or don’t drive
I mean i went from a truck that got 12mpg to a little 1.4t that gets 29. But i dont think im gonna go full electric/hybrid.
But everybody wants a demon.
Not everybody.
That’s almost the whole population of Canada lol
If I were the type to use a car as nothing more than a transportation appliance, I’d be tempted to get an EV, too.
Exactly
I don’t understand why non-carguys would even buy a non-electric car (apart from range and price, but those are not that much of an issue anymore)
Not even if I was a non-carguy. As soon as I’ll have two seperate cars for daily driving/hauling and for fun, the daily is probably going to be an EV, while I can keep destroying mother nature with my “fun” car.
No way man. Number one thing is a big ole V8
