2012's Top 10 Rappers Cars: "Chrome Rapping"

To date, the most popular article here on Car Throttle, was our look at "40 Rapper Stars and Their Performance Cars". We're loving the constant response to it, even though it was compiled over three years ago. Many moons have past since and so we thought it was time to update you with the Top 10 latest whips and their owners in 2012.

10. 50 Cent's Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster

It turns out 50 Cent (known as 32 pence here in the UK) is still rolling in a Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster. The chrome one was sold on eBay and he originally gave this one to Ciara but then decided he wanted it back. The 641hp roofless bat is part of his 'Blue Car Collection' consisting of a Rolls Royce Ghost and Ferrari 430.

9. Lil Wayne's Cadillac CTS

He's had Bugattis, Astons and even a Bentley Mulsanne but Weezy is currently cruising in a Cadillac CTS, America's answer to cars like the Mercedes E Class and Jaguar XF. Four engines are available ranging from a 3.0-litre V6 with 270hp right up to a 6.2-litre V8 with 556hp. If you're not keen on the sedan shape, you can get it as a striking coupe or a slightly more practical wagon.

8. Wiz Khalifa's Dodge Challenger

If your biggest hit contains two colours said repeatedly in the chorus then you would have done exactly what Wiz Khalifa did with his Dodge Challenger. It's been on America's roads since 1970 and this latest model has engines ranging from a 3.6-litre V6 with 305hp to a 6.4-litre Hemi V8 with 470hp. Wiz has also been seen in a classic method of rapping travel, the back of a Rolls Royce Phantom.

7. Kanye West's Lamborghini Aventador

Of all the gifts you could imagine receiving from your other half, this has to be one of the best. The 6.5-litre V12 Aventador (as you'll probably know by now, surely) produces 700hp and goes from 0-60mph in just 2.9 seconds. Clearly, Kanye digs Khalifa's black and yellow Challenger with those brake calipers.

6. Flo Rida's Bugatti Veyron

Joining Theo Paphitis' Maybach, Justin Bieber's Fisker Karma and Jermaine Pennant's Aston in the 'shiny-shiny' club, is Flo Rida's chrome-wrapped Bugatti Veyron. The ex-fastest production car in the world has a top speed of 220mph while the fastest - the Super Sport - goes up to 267mph.

5. Swizz Beats' Morgan Aero

You would think that the official face of Lotus would have an Exige or an Evora but this is a bit of a shocker. He's still riding the British way but in the form of a Morgan. The Aero has a BMW V8 under the really old-school wooden bonnet which produces 360hp giving it a 0-62mph time of 4.5 seconds and gets the Aero up to a top speed of 170mph.

4. Will.I.Am's McLaren MP4-12C

Fans of Will.I.Am who also have Ferrari posters next to ones of him will be outraged by this picture. What Will really wants is his very own car, designed by himself, to get him from home to the studio but he hasn't quite finished that project just yet, with teething problems including the fact that it got towed by the cops. The 3.8-litre, 600hp McLaren will do until completion of the Will.I.Am car.

3. Xzibit's Bugatti Veyron

Another rapper in the long list of Bugatti Veyron owners is Mr X to the Z Xzibit. If you were hoping for something pimped up right to the max or you're from Skoda and hoping he had a Yeti then I'm terribly sorry to dissapoint. However, the matte white paint work with a nice red pinstripe around the top of the door going towards the rear of the car suits it well. It must have hater-vision on the rear seats though?

2. The Game's Ferrari 430

Leather is almost everywhere on some cars. Cars like Jags, Lamborghinis, Bentleys and Ferraris have leather not just on the seats but on the dash and even on the headlining. The Game has decided to take it one step further. That's not cracked matte paint or thousands of scratches on his 430, that's leather!

1. Birdman's Maybach Exelero

The ultimate rappers car has to be Birdman's purchase. Even the richest of rich have probably never seen this on the roads of Hollywood and in some cases can't afford it. That's because it's the Maybach Exelero. A one-off car build in 2005 which has a twin-turbo V12 producing 700hp which Birdman had to have. The price he paid? $8 million!
