2011 Infiniti G Getting 2.5-liter V-6

The Infiniti G lineup has always been known primarily by the G35 and G37 designations. Infiniti is unique in that it uses the liter designations for its models. That's why this new rumor is pretty interesting, if only for a marketing standpoint.

G25? Looks a bit, odd written down. Edmunds Inside Lineis the one to get this scoop. The G37 has been noted for its impressive level of standard horsepower, coming in at 325 ponies in its $33,250 base price.

Infiniti wants take things down a bit with a new base model that will help to better tackle the BMW 328i. They plan to use the G25 to do that. With turbocharging, Inside Line says to expect around 250 horsepower from the car's Nissan 2.5-liter V-6, which makes 210 hp when naturally-aspirated.

The engine should offer better fuel economy, in addition to still offering a power advantage over the 230 hp BMW. Perhaps most importantly, the G25 will be getting a price reduction.

For those looking to get into a luxury brand for a better price, this one is for you. Apparently, the engine will only be launching on the four-door model from the start. A bit disappointing for those looking to get into the coupe or convertible models for a bargain price right away. However, if sales of the G25 do well "both will happen." Sounds good to us!
