2009 New York International Auto Show - What would you like to see?
On the week of April 6th of this year, I will be covering the New York International Auto Show, with laptop, and camera in hand. And so, I wanted to ask, which vehicles would you want to see?
On the week of April 6th of this year, I will be covering the New York International Auto Show, with laptop, and camera in hand. And so, I wanted to ask, which vehicles would you want to see? The list is almost endless, and of course there is certainly some time limitations, but I will do my best.
It looks like the entire day for both Wednesday, and Thursday are packed end to end with product introductions, or product reviews, from 8:00 right through 15:15 on Wednesday, and through 14:45 on Thursday. And according to the newsletter, there will be at least 33 vehicles scheduled for press conferences. That's going to be quite a few to try and cover, so I'll only go after the most noteworthy ones.
Here are some of the vehicles I feel need to be covered; The New Golf VI, The Mercedes Benz C Class Coupe, The Fisker Karma, The Ford Fiesta, the Toyota iQ, the new Volvo XC60, The Koenigsegg CCX, just to name a few. I will also cover some of the commercial vehicles that are set for debut, including the Ford Transit Connect, The new Nissan Commercial Van, and the Mahindra Diesel Truck.
I will also cover the World Car of the Year Award, in which the finalists are the Fiesta, the New Golf, and the Toyota iQ. There will be awards fot the 2009 World Performance Car (Finalists are: Corvette ZR-1, Nissan GT-R, Porsche 911 Carrera); 2009 World Green Car (Finalists are: Honda FCX Clarity, Mitsubishi iMiEV, Toyota iQ); and the 2009 World Car Design of the Year (Finalists are: Citroen C5, Fiat 500, Jaguar XF).
Unlike the Detroit Show, or the Chicago Show, New York seems to have all of the automakers in attendance, including Porsche, Nissan, Suzuki, and Mitsubishi, along with brands that are practically in a coma like Saab, Hummer, and Pontiac, and some rather exotic makes like Iconic, Koenigsegg, Lamborghini, Lotus, Aston Martin, and Fisker.
So stay tuned, or you will never know what will be covered.
