Should Porsche Be Held Accountable For The Death Of Paul Walker?
Paul Walker died in a car accident on 30 November 2013. He was the passenger in a Porsche Carrera GT that was being driven at an “unsafe speed for the roadway conditions“ by his racing driver friend Roger Rodas. When Rodas lost control of the car which smashed into a lamp post and a tree, they were travelling at between 80mph and 93mph on Michelin tyres that were thought to be nine years old.
Since Walker and Rodas’ death, tears have been shed and emotional tributes have been paid. But as with some high profile cases in the past, law suits have also been made. And that’s happened no fewer than three times against Porsche at the hands of Rodas’ widow, Walker’s daughter and now, Walker’s father.
Being brutally honest, I’m sick of hearing about yet more legal action that’s being taken against Porsche because the car “didn’t have safety features which might have prevented his death.” If this is grounds to be suing Porsche, then why not go after Michelin, the lamp post and the tree that destroyed the car and took the mens’ lives? Hell, if I ever crash and lose a limb does that mean that I can call up Mazda and tell them that I’ll be suing them because my 20-year-old MX-5 didn’t have proper crumple zones? I don’t think so…
In my eyes, this new lawsuit does nothing but cast a dirty cloud over the tragedy. Poorly maintained cars get fragile, tyres perish, and people drive like idiots every single day. Bearing in mind that all of these factors were present on that fateful day, I don’t think that Porsche should be held accountable for their deaths.

Its all our fault actually. If we all hadn’t seen The Fast and The Furious series, Paul Walker wouldn’t have had the money to buy the Carrera GT let alone crash it.Be prepared to be sued for all your worth.

If I crash my Aygo, is it Toyotas fault? Nope.
Defiantly not, people die in cars everyday from excessive speed, and there are no law suits against car manufactures… This is just the Walker family trying to use their power in the wrong way and for the wrong reasons
Absolutely not, if the car literally just rolled out of the showroom then fair enough but I heard it was riding on 9 year old tires whether that’s true or not I’m not sure but if it is then I’m not surprised it happened
As much as i liked Paul Walker and Rodas, no, in my eyes it isnt correct to sue Porsche, safety features or not, that car was built for the track and the cause of the crash, was driver error
My views exactly, the Carrera GT is a no nonsense super care that needs constant driver focus, mainly at higher speeds, my question is that why weren’t the tires ever changed, Rodas is a racer surely he would know how important tire maintenance is.

If it was built for the track it should not have been sold as a street car it should only be sold as a race car and even thwn i should still have better saftey features

Unfortunately we live in a compensation world, nowadays people seem to think that it’s there right to get something for nothing. That and they’ve probably blown all the money they already had and are now hoping to use there dead family member as a cash cow, oh how I hate ‘the Average American Society’.
Where in the any of the 4 dimensions would this work? Where is Jeremy Clarkson when you need him to talk about the dangers of the Carrera GT to his family?! Porsche should hire him to talk sense into these people!
