Unpopular opinion: I like keeping cars stock and well serviced. Modding a car to be fast is awesome but Im worried that a car (an R34 for example) would be extinct one day and I want to save at least one in perfect stock condition.

I agree, but when I intend to mod my car, I would like to make it MY car.

My civic was unique in where I live because it was the only stock civic in town. So many people wanted to buy it from me, unfortunately it crashed :( :(

That’s perfectly fine, I like seeing cars that are 100% stock and well serviced even if it’s nothing real special.

It hurt me when I had to change the tape player in my car before because it was so outdated but I wanted it stock. Or maybe thats a bit too much? lol

thats why i have 2 puma’s… one in mint condition stock with 44,000 miles, the other modded and tatty as hell with 138,000 miles. If you keep a car that has some pedigree stock and well looked after, it can hold and gain in value massively, the R34 being great example, as well as old ford cosworth’s, seen some going for over £25,000 with low mileage because there are so few left. In truth I would never buy a modded car anyway, there’s to much risk involved.

Collecting legend cars (especially JDM) and keeping them stock and well maintained is my dream garage. Haha! I like how you have 2 pumas. Now that youve given me the idea, you’ll have to help me explain to my future wife why im buying 2 of the same car.

Definitely agreeing with you on that. I was originally going to save up to buy a 240SX or something similar as a first car and keep it stock (albeit with minor, personal mods).

R34 stock was raw anyways. There will be a time when certain cars become like that, it is our job as car guys to try and preserve them.

Some time in the future, there will be a car-scene for taking Skylines and Supra’s and restoring them to factory, because they’ll all have been modified.

In my mind. I think you can do what you like with a car. There is nothing wrong with mods. It will still be a classic.. I do personally know someone that bought a GTIR pulsar and restored it to factory. right down to the wheels. springs. and wasnt happy with the end result. He prefered it with the mods. But the car is now in a shed being driven once a week on the open road (no more then 15km) Its his retirement car, In 30 years he may be one of the only stock pulsar GTIR drivers in New Zealand. He is also looking for a few other things like a s13,
