I hate the fact that so many people want to bring back the Group B, it was pure madness. People lost their lives for money and the prestige of companies.
I’m one that loves to see Group B cars, and seeing them rallying again would be great (I do anyway at certain events across the year), but when we say we want to see Group B back, we mean with the same safety regulations of today but with the good ol’ cars. People dying is never a good thing and I wouldn’t wish for that to come back…
Well we don`t we ? Because today the wrc cars heve 500 hp too and safety and stuff sooooo i dont know if you want group b back the only thing missing is the madness
I think group be should come back, just with stricter regulations on where the fans can be. I mean that’s clearly not enough room to be driving a car in that manner. Esp when at the barrier its people, not tires, not cement, not plastic, not a fence, not even a cliff, but people.
Actually I think Group B was glorious in a tragic way. But it’s not of this time. It’s from the ’80s and it wouldn’t fit in with today’s attitude towards motorsport.
If we should get Group B back, we should get back the unlimited performance. It should be a racing class where there are no technical rules except for safety. And a lot of rules for the crowd.
But I’m not really a fan of bringing it back. We should not try to copy it. It’s a thing from the past. And the current WRC formula is actually a better test to see who is the fastest driver.
So let’s all agree, Group B was something rally needed for new technology to develop, but it was completely mad and unsafe. It was the base for today’s rally sport, but the sport has evolved into a more equal and safer thing.
I think I’m the only one that appreciates your long comment - I completely agree with you anyway. Although Group B rally may be safe if it existed today, it was a thing of the 80’s and we should leave it their (but as a society, we still need to work on the concept of time travel, if you know what I mean :P).
The magic behind group B was the madness of the cars, and the inovation it brought with it (Audis line of Quattros would never have existet without the Urquattro) The fact that MG and Renult got that insane idea trowing a big turbo engine where the back seats normaly was in theire little Hatchbacks. The biggest problem with the Group B was the lag of security around the fans, and the stupidity of the fans, jumping away from whare the cars would land.
Thing is were you ever there? Did you know what it felt like to have a car fly by you just a couple feet away? exactly if you knew what it felt you would want it to come back so bad!! I wish i was born in that generation
I think OP want’s somebody or someones to argue with?
Yeah i was a bit bored
And so, the controversy begins…
What are you talking about! No fan has ever complained about being…. oh wait. xD Well natural selection at work here.
Group B was the heart. Group B is where real drivers were. Group B is where true car guys were at.
What about every racecar drivers is a real car guy just because they had the balls to race….. and to push hard

They knew the risk and they took it
I doubt that you can say that about the fans
