Hey guys, what would happen if I put an Evo 10 engine inside my 2014 Mitsubishi ASX? Just wondering, as both engines are 4cy 2.0L, considering doing this to my car. Thanks!
we already have a 2wd ASX, which we bought for just under 30k. An evo 10 is judt under 60k. Also i like the idea of a sleeper, and the fact that the ASX is actually lighter than an evo tempts me more. Haha
I should’t be too overly complicated, at least for an engine swap. Your engine is the 4B11, and the Evo`s is the 4B11T. I think the blocks are more or less the same, so your transmission would bolt right up and the engine mounts should fit, too (not sure). The question is, whether your transmission would hold up, and if it is controlled by your ECU (it is automatic?). The easiest way would be to swap the EVO’s ECU and wiring and a manual transmission. I don’t know, whether the EVO ECU can control an ASX automatic transmission.
What if I manualised the tranny?
1) Gearbox only stick 2) Improve cooling system 3) new engine to register on canbus 4) might need to up your brakes and suspension 5) still doable
Would also like to know the answer to this please! But thinking going one step further with using the evo10 SST gearbox to retain AWD.
The OEM CVT is garbage. For the love of god DO NOT use it. As for the swap it us one I am considering myself once the my RVR is out of warranty and paid off.
The easiest way to go about this would be to buy a wrecked Evo and swap the entire drivetrain into the RVR/ASX/OS. Meaning the Engine, ECU, Transmission, Differentials, and Driveshaft(may need custom size made).
I imagine because they share the same platform that many of those components will bolt right up, however be prepared to fabricate various mounts and brackets in the event things don’t.
Wiring I would imagine would be extremely easy, if your chassis ECU doesn’t plug right into the evo ECU the wires should be easy to trace and splice.
