Canards, also known as dive planes, drives air stream upwards, thus creating downforce for the front end and prevents high pressure air from entering the underbody of the car from the side
Canards in aircraft are quite similar too. Except completely different because they create lift as opposed to down force. They are placed in front of an aircraft’s main wing or lift surface, often to replace a horizontal stabilizer or even if a horizontal stabilizer is present, to provide laminar airflow over the main wing.
