Dubshed: horrible pictures of brilliant cars, plus some words

Yesterday was the first day of Dubshed, probably Northern Ireland’s biggest VAG car show, which is why the top image is of a Subaru. But anyway, I was there, and I took some photos. All of them were terrible, but you can at least identify the car in all/most of them.

So, onwards.

BMW Z4

I don’t know quite what it was about this car that was so impressive, but it was easily one of the most professional cars there. For someone who honestly couldn’t care less about Z4s, that’s quite an achievement.

The wheels were probably the highlight for me, which is of course why you can hardly make them out in the photos. Black and white, with some nice white spikes sticking out to remove people’s ankles as they walked on the footpath, which was a nice touch.

Audi T(i)T(ty)

An incredibly clean TT. You don’t appreciate the curves of a TT until you see one like this. Unfortunately I didn’t take any more photos of the TT, because, once again, I don’t really like TTs.

Like a million Volkswagen Caddy's

If there was a list of the top 3 most popular cars at Dubshed, I’m pretty sure the Caddy would be at #2. Seriously. There were loads of them.

However, I only took a picture of one of them. I don’t really know why I chose this one, although it was probably due to it being bright green, and having some slightly widened rear fenders.

Volkswagen something-or-other

Not a clue what this is. All I know is it’s been lowered a little bit and the wheels are quite nice.

Volkswagen Beetle RSI, probably

Think a Beetle, only on steroids.

The RSI was a limited edition, VR6-engined 4WD monster with a couple of subtle cosmetic modifications as well. And I think I just saw one. There are suspicions that it may just have been a very convincing fake, but still - I never thought that I’d say a Beetle was one of the highlights of a show, but…

BMW M3 Sport Evolution III

I don’t know a lot about the E30, but I know that it’s hard to get much better than this.

BMW M3 race car (Group A?)

Actually, you can go a bit better than the Sport Evolution.

Yes, there really were two Volkswagen Karmann Ghias, sitting right beside each other, both with Fuchs wheels. I don’t think there was too much salivating.

I’m not the worlds biggest fan of 911s, but it’s not often that you see ones like these. In fact, I don’t think I’d ever seen a lowered Porsche of any sort before.

I have to say that I’m pretty sure this is the rustiest car I’ve ever seen at a show. It’s actually pretty cool, and i love the contrast between the spotless engine and wheels and the rest of it…

Another Nazimobile

Not really sure why I took a photo of this, apart from those wheels.

Volkswagen Lupo

There weren’t very many Lupos unfortunately, but this makes up for it. Nice wheels, nice colour.

Volkswagen Polo Harlequin

I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that the Harlequin is pretty amazing, but I never thought I’d get to see one. Just look at it!

A little tiny Porsche. That’s pretty much all I know about this one. Anyone help me?

Ferrari Coupé

In an alternate universe, Ferrari and Fiat once again worked together to produce the new Dino. Sadly, we don’t live in that alternate universe.

Can’t say I was expecting an Opel Ascona 400 and Manta 400 to be sitting side by side. I wasn’t expecting a lot of the stuff I saw.

Jaguar E-Type

I don’t know why there was an E-Type at what was a predominantly VAG meeting, but I’m glad there was.

Mercedes S70 AMG

500bhp. 531 lb ft. 2000kg. 7 litre V12, which was basically the same engine used in the Pagani Zonda. Only 18 ever built. Need I say more?

Another Nazimobile

Looks a little different from stock…

Subaru WRX STI

Okay, I’ll say it: this was my favourite car there. Probably.

I’m not a fan of the Subaru Impreza generally (I feel like a heretic now lol), but this was amazing.

Idk what this is

Can i have one?

I tried to take a semi-artistic shot. It went well, possibly. Probably not. I’ll let you be the judge of that.

There are many photos I haven’t included here, simply because I couldn’t be bothered to spend any longer on this post. There was also an R34 GT-R which was rumoured to have 1000 horsepower which I didn’t even take a picture of, because I’m a bit of an idiot. But yeah, hope you enjoyed my rubbish photos of brilliant cars, mostly :)

Nice article. The ‘thing’ with tracks is a John Deere Gator which is normally found with wheels and is a kind of mini pickup truck but for farms etc.

Ah thanks. There were a few wheeled ones about as well, I remember my dad telling me. It looks pretty fun though :)

I think that’s one of the nicest 996’s i’ve ever seen. Also that VW pickup is Transporter T3 and that M3 is the first M3 to have an inline 6.

Yeah the 996 was actually really nice, and thanks about the Transporter. I’ve heard the name before, just never seen pictures of it :)

Wow, a blue RSI?!?! All RSIs sold were silver, only one was blue and it was built for VW chairman Ferdinand Piech (now former), epic find!

Ah. As I said, it’s possible that it was a very good fake. I now believe that it is a fake 😂
