My Ideal 12 Car Garage

Well… this entire thing on Car Throttle is trending, customizing your own garage up to 12 cars. With so many choices in mind, I decide to take a more equal approach and not leave out some car types, like not everything being sports cars, classics, or hot hatches. So I decided to divide this into categories. Daily, Classic, Performance and Supercars.

So here’s my ideal 12 car garage, on all categories if I had to pick.

Section 1: Daily Vehicles / 1. Hyundai Santa Fe Turbo

The Hyundai Santa Fe. It’s just.. the looks of it. So muscular looking, and it looks like it’s ready to tackle any mission the family has, like sending the kids to soccer practice, or going to work. But this car isn’t all show no go. It has a 3.3 liter V6 turbo engine producing 290 HP, and is extremely practical and off-road capable. I would definitely pick that for a daily.

2. Vauxhall Insignia GSi

Well… if I would have to pick a personal daily vehicle, it would be a sedan. And not just any sedan, it would be a 2017 Vauxhall Insignia GSi. Aggressive looks, great handling, powered by a 252 HP turbo engine, and the fastest Vauxhall to ever lap the Green Hell, or the Nurburgring for those who don’t know. I won’t mind driving that back and to the office, especially in that red color.

Section 2: Performance Vehicles / 3/ Seat Leon Cupra 300

When someone buys a hot hatch, it would usually be a Honda Civic Type R, Mercedes-Benz AMG A 45, or a Golf GTI. I want something that stands out, or is uncommon, but is en par with the world’s top hot hatchbacks. That’s why I went with the Seat Leon Cupra 300. It’s more powerful than a Volkswagen Golf R, en par with the Honda Civic Type R, not as powerful as the A 45 AMG but still cheaper overall. And it stands out from the crowd.

4. Volvo V60 Polestar

In a world full of AMGs, BMW Ms, and Audi RSs, Polestar is a forgotten or mostly unknown name in the world of performance divisions. I would get a V60 Polestar because of it’s durability, while at the same time churn out a lot of power from a 345 horsepower turbocharged inline-six engine driving all four wheels. An inline six! That’s a dying breed in the world of engines! I mean I know it’s turbocharged but come on! Inline Six engine! And it’s a tank.

5. BMW M6

The fifth car I would like to have is the BMW M6. No, not that bullshit M6 Grand Tourer, I’m talking about the original BMW M6, the two door one. With a Twin-Turbo V8 at it’s heart producing 568 horsepower, you know it means business. With an aggressive and streamlined look, combined with a luxurious interior, it’s the ultimate Grand Tourer out of Germany (Besides probably the Mercedes S-Class Coupe)

Section 3: Classics / 6: Mitsubishi GTO

Most of the list of my ideal cars are new from Europe, so let’s go back in time to the Japanese Auto Industry in the 1990s, the golden age of JDM. Many performance cars came out in that era, such as the Toyota Supra, Nissan Skyline GT-R R34, Honda NSX, and the Mitsubishi GTO. It was a rare gem, not as common as the other three, but en par in terms of performance, wth a 276 horsepower twin-turbo V6.

7. Shelby AC Cobra 427 Super Snake

The 1960s was a time when the American Auto industry was booming, and the car that was the pinnacle of the American Auto Industry at that time was the Shelby Cobra 427 Super Snake. With Caroll Shelby’s engineering know-how, combined with a beautifully designed and timeless masterpiece, you know you made one of the most legendary cars to ever come out of America. (Or Britain, as AC Ace was British)

8. Honda NSX

The original Honda NSX was a revolution of the entire Japnese Auto Industry, the first car to have the guts and performance to tackle the best the Europeans to offer, heck it even sent Ferrari back to the drawing board! It became the benchmark of supercars at that time. With driving assisted by the legend Aryton Senna himself, a 276 horsepower V6, you know the Europeans were worried. It was also the first daily supercar, one that can use on a daily basis for everyday things.

9. TVR Sagaris

TVR has always been close to my heart. A car manufacturer that actually produces proper sports cars, one that isn’t complicated, has no assists such as torque vectoring or any advanced technology, and one that is built for the driver and for the driver itself. The TVR Sagaris was the newest vehicle to come out of the classic TVR era. With a 406 horsepower Inline-Six engine (An Inline Six! Again), paired with a 5-speed manual, you know it’s built for the driver. I would love one, especially in that Chameleon paint.

Section 4: Supercars and Hypercars / 10. Lotec-Mercedes C1000

Now this is a completely unknown supercar to most people here. German tuning company Lotec kind of lost themselves when they decided to create the fastest car in the world (unproven) for some Arabian oil tycoon. They made a 1,000 horsepower, carbon fiber hypercar, with a top speed of 268 MPH, 25 MPH faster than the McLaren F1. a 1,000 horsepower car was unbelievable at that time, with the next car with 1,000 horsepower emerging more than a decade later with not sure what.

11. Jaguar XJ220

The Jaguar XJ220… What can I say. Its the best looking Jaguar I have ever laid my eyes on. I know most people would say it was the E-Type, but this is an entirely new level. With a streamlined and curvaceous body, paired with a 369 HP twin-turbo V6 engine, it was once the world speed record holder with 212 MPH, until Bugatti took the crown with the EB110, later taken by McLaren with the F1.

12. Porsche 918 Spyder

The Porsche 918 is the supercar that would save the supercar. With a 887 horsepower V8 engine paired with an electric motor, it is one of the fastest accelerating cars in the world, and one of the best handling with advanced torque vectoring and technologies. It was Richard Hammond’s favorite out of the three, and one of the fastest cars to have ever lapped the Nurburgring. And despite all that, it’s environmentally friendly, with emissions lower than a Toyota Prius, proving that you can have performance and sustainability for the environment at the same time.

Honorable Mention 1: BAC Mono
