W140 S70 AMG: The German tyre slayer you probably didn't know about.

The History

When somebody talks about the first S-class AMG most people will think of the w221 or w220.
But in secret Mercedes actually had one long before that! I present to you the S70 AMG.

weighing in at just over 2000KG its no wonder that the w140 had the nickname ‘’the Cathedral”
so off course its not the car you’re looking for if you want to go fast… unless you’re really rich and
you have some friends at the Mercedes Headquarters. Because the S70 AMG was never a car
that was officially for sale, only if Mercedes liked you and you threw a lot of money at them
you had a chance of them building one for you. thats why there are only an estimated of 15-18
of these cars ever build, wich makes them ultra rare! especially these days.

The specs

If you wanted one of these beasts Mercedes would grab the original 6.0L v12 from the s600
and bored it out to a unholy 7 liters giving it 496HP and 531 pound-feet-of-torque.
which makes it a rightful wearer of the AMG badge.
All this power is put down on the road through a 5-speed auto gearbox directed to the rear wheels.
So its basically a luxury Pagani Zonda saloon.

With this setup the S70 AMG would hit the 0-100km/h (0-60mp/h) mark in 5.2 seconds.
and it would keep going to about 300km/h (187mp/h) which is mind bobbling fast
for a boat from the early 90’s. As you can see in the linked video a certain legend was able
to drift one of these boats and even made it look easy! (i’ll leave a link in the comments)

there was even a S73 AMG with the 6 liter engine bored out to (you guessed it) a ridiculous
7.3 liters (wich basically makes it the same engine as the one in the original Zonda) and 525hp.

But that car is so rare that its easier to find Phil Collin’s nudes than to find any info on that car.

So that was my story about the s70 amg. sorry if some stuff looks weird, im still playing with the new options CT gave us ;)
please tell me what you thought of my story and what i can do better.

and i hope you enjoyed!
