Top 5 highest revving turbocharged engines currently in production

Although a turbo will affect the engine’s ability to rev, that hasn’t stopped some manufacturers from making some high revving motors with the snails attached, here are the 5 highest revving turbocharged engines currently in production

Number five: Alfa Romeo's F154 2.9L twin turbo V6

Using a 2.9L twin turbo V6, the Guilia revs all the way to 7000, and the fuel cutoff is even high at 7250. That is incredibley impressive considering it has 35 PSI of boost being shoved into the engine. Although it is a very powerful motor (505 HP), this is about revs and the Guilia doesn’t quite have enough compared to the others on this list. However, that’s perfectly fine with me.

Number four: Honda NSX's 3.5L twin turbo V6

Before I get into this one, you might be wondering “Why is he calling an Acura a Honda if he is from America?” Well to me, Honda sounds better than Acura, so I call it the Honda NSX. With that sorted, let’s get on with it. The NSX came to the world in 2016 (In the US) and uses a 3.5L twin turbo V6 with 3 electric motors. While the hybrid layout might come in a different time, this time I’m going to focus on that V6. Not only does it make 500 HP, but it revs all the way to 7500 rpm. While that isn’t as high as the competitors from say McLaren or Ferrari, it is very impressive for a V6, let alone a hybrid one with nearly 600 HP combined.

Number three: Ferrari's F142M 3.9L twin turbo V8

I seem to be making a habit with mentioning cars in the blogpost after the other, but with a 3.9L twin turbo V8, this 458 successor loses only 1000 rpm with turbocharging. That’s right, the flat plane crank V8 revs all the way to 8000 rpm, and with 661 HP on tap, it has the turbocharging on the low end then sings all the way to redline. Even though it won’t be as shouty as the 458, it makes up for it in pure speed.

Number two: Koenigsegg's 5.0L Twin turbo V8

Used in every Agera model, the most powerful version (in the Agera lineup) is the One:1 with 1341 HP. Not just that, but this 5.0L unit revs to 8250 rpm, the same as the naturally aspirated Shelby GT350 and GT350Rs 5.2. With a redline of 8500 rpm, this is the highest revving production turbocharged engine (that I could find).
