Would You Rock A BMW 1M Replica If It Looked This Good?
BMW's astounding 1M coupe is one of our favourite M cars of recent times. Unfortunately, though, we're unlikely to ever be able to afford one. Used prices start at around £40k, and with only 450 coming to the UK, prices are unlikely to fall particularly far.
The guy selling this car had a solution of sorts. He took a much cheaper E82 135i M Sport coupe, and gave it a wide arch conversion to look just like the 1M. With 306bhp, it's barely down on power compared to the 1M's 335bhp, and as these cars are very tuneable, a remap should easily bump the power closer to - or even over - that figure.
The front wings, front and rear bumpers, wheels and exhaust are all genuine 1M items, so you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference if this parked up next to a proper 1M. One big minus point, though, is that you won't get the clever diff found in the real one.
There's no word on how much this conversion cost, but this replica is up for £23,999, about £8k more than a standard 135i of similar age and mileage. The question is, do you think this is a decent alternative to the pricey 1M, or is it sacrilege to pass off a 135i as something it's not? Get voting!
Update: the seller has since been in touch to let us know that the car has in fact had the 1M's clever diff installed, as well as 1M suspension.
