Why This Little Tyre Pressure Gadget Could Save Lives
Checking your tyre pressure is vital, but how many of us do it as often as we should? Not enough, we're guessing. Driving with tyres at the wrong pressure can be incredibly dangerous, as it results in reduced grip and control over the car, and speeds up tyre wear.
Luckily, RightPSI has the solution. Its neat little gadget fits directly onto your tyre valve stem to indicate if a tyre's pressure is at a good level.
All you have to do is screw the gadget onto the stem and the cap will measure the pressure within the tyre, indicating orange when it's low, yellow when overfilled, or black when it's just right. You can also pump up your tyre through the gadget, meaning you won't accidentally over or underinflate. To prevent theft, the cap has a hex nut that can be tightened around the stem, making it ideal for your daily driver.
A Kickstarter project was started to raise funds for multi-cavity plastic moulding tooling to enable mass production, and a laser for plastic welding, which provides a strong bond to prevent leakage.
The company's $20,000 target has already been hit, but with extra backing they may be able to produce caps for different valve styles.
We can't believe this idea hasn't been hit on before, as it's a cheap way to take the hassle out of a vital area of car maintenance.
