I think “expertly dodge” is a bit over the top. I think the words you were looking for are “swerved out the way of”.

That other car though saw it earlier and gave him the room by getting straight on the brakes.

well he did dodge most of the debris, it looks intentional to me but it might have been luck aye

My breakdown (hur hur) of how it happened, in case anyone cares:

  • White CR-V and grey Jeep have a fender bender, and stop in the road
  • Traffic slows to a stop in that lane
  • Accordion effect; cars and drivers have less and less time and space to react the further down the line it goes…
  • … Until it reaches the champagne-coloured sedan (Maxima?), who brakes and swerves right to avoid the blue Mazda CX-5
  • A split second later, the silver sedan (Hyundai Elantra?) - who also didn’t have time to react - taps the rear left of the Maxima(?)…
  • … Which flings it even faster into the side of the Explorer, causing it to spin out.
  • Biker swears a lot, changes pants.

this is also why you always ride with your visor down or use some other eye protection while riding
