TranStar Dagger Sets Lofty Performance Goals

Another day, another vaporware supercar company? A company called TranStar Racing is hoping to change that with its proposed new supercar, dubbed the Dagger.

Another day, another vaporware supercar company? A company called TranStar Racing is hoping to change that with its proposed new supercar, dubbed the Dagger.

The company has just launched and created some new renderings for us to check out what they've got planned. From the onset, it's clear the Dagger is for the most ultimate performance junkies of them all.

There is a "disclaimer" that reads: WARNING: Material on this website may not be suitable for viewing by environmentally-sensitive, energy-conscious, or non-competitive type personalities. Let's take a look.

Good looking? Yes, but that's because the Dagger follows a tried-and-true supercar styling template. Mid-engined, low-slung and sleek - kind of like a dagger. Oh wait....

The biggest shocker of all lies in its specifications sheet. Impressive? More like insane. TranStar lists these calculated performance specifications: 2000 horsepower, 0-to-60 in 1.5 seconds, 0-to-60-to-0 in four seconds, 1/4-mile in 6.6 seconds at 204 mph.

Top speed is pegged at an incredible 314 miles-per-hour. These "specifications" are just hypothetical for now, until proven.

However, TranStar says they had an aerodynamicist that is a consultant to NASA calculate that the goal is achievable, along with "two experienced 300 mph Bonneville record-holder racers."

TranStar appears to have assembled an experienced team to produce the Dagger. The team includes Phil Frank, the designer of the Saleen S7, as Consulting Director of Design and Tom Nelson as the supplier for the car's 2000 hp engine.

In addition, Alan Wisniewski, a racing chassis-builder, will provide the Chromoly chassis and Mike Mendeola the custom 6-speed transaxle.

TransStar says it has found a way to nearly eliminate research and development costs by using parts that are  "proven, reliable, off-the-rack, (and) low-risk."

Interested in seeing how this plays out? We sure are. Dagger says verification of performance will take place early next year, as well as production of the first five vehicles is said to begin next year, with each at a price tag of around $400,000 depending on options.
