What no love for Volkswagen’s 1.9l tdi, might not have the power numbers but they were reliable and there are many that are out there running with more than 500,000 miles

True, but then you would need to mention like every 2.0 distributor injection pump Diesel from the 90s/ early 2000s. They are basically all incredibly reliable and many would be running even up to 1 million kilometres if treated well.
